Route Description

This walk will be approximately 7 miles. The walk starts from Skelmanthorpe and climb steadily until we reach Emley Moor mast. We then proceed to Emley village itself before our return to Skelmanthorpe. We pass over and under the narrow gauge Kirkless Light Railway which runs steam trains at the weekend. The walk has several viewpoints with 360 degree views.

This walk takes use through field paths and and tracks. There is a section that involves walking along a pavement for about 1/3 mile, to get us from the Mast to Emley village itself. The paths are generally very good throughout, there are several stiles on this walk.
Starting from Skelmanthorpe the route climbs gradually for about 2 miles. Once arriving at the mast we will have a short drinks break before continuing with the walk. Lunch will be taken at an appropriate place depending on timings.
