Route Description

Overview – a one-day practical Peak District Navigation Course.
Aimed at beginners or people wanting a refresher session.
Open to members and non-members.
The day
A brief theory session will introduce you to maps, access rights, key skills and strategies that are relevant to good navigation, followed by the day’s practical learning.
NB I’m not showing the course’s route…that’s for navigators to work out 😊
Course Outcomes
*Learn to navigate with map and compass
* Build hillwalking confidence
*Use a compass to set the map, check direction and follow bearings
* Learn effective relocation techniques
* Apply the five ‘D’s: Distance, Duration, Direction, Description, Destination

*Standard hillwalking gear (include waterproofs) Remember glasses if needed for map.
*Packed lunch, snacks and drinks
*Spare clothing (allow for weather variations)
* I will provide maps, notebook, counting beads, pencil and compass (or bring own)
