Route Description
A Peak District walk packed with breathtaking scenery, hidden history, and peaceful countryside charm.
This walk by Sheffield Walkers leads you from Eyam across the sweeping landscapes of Eyam Moor, along scenic woodland paths, and beside the tranquil brook that winds through Bretton Clough. Along the way, you’ll pass the atmospheric ruins of old farm buildings and cross rolling farmlands that showcase the timeless beauty of the Peak District.
Bretton Clough is steeped in fascinating local legend. It is said to have been one of the final refuges of the ancient Britons, and later, in 1745, local farmers are believed to have hidden their cattle here to protect them from the advancing troops of Bonnie Prince Charlie. With every step, this walk blends stunning natural beauty with echoes of the past, creating a truly memorable countryside experience.
