Places remaining: 15

Route Description

The walk takes us through some of the most ancient areas of Wincobank. The beautiful Wincobank and Woolley Woods, the remains of the Brigante Hill Fort on Wincobank Hill and Wincobank Common.

Woodland, some pavement and park land walking is included. There are areas of mud in the woods and wet leaves. Care needs to be taking crossing a busy main road. There are 2 gradients but these are very gradual.Meeting point is Concord Sports Centre Car Park. S5 6AE.
Our route takes us past Shiregreen Cemetery and the old brick yard. We will follow the path into Wincobank Woods and make an ascent to the Hill Fort let’s hope it’s a clear day for amazing views of Sheffield and beyond. Our descent to Woolley Wood will be made via Wincobank Common and some pavement walking. Our return to start and the optional debrief at Concord Golf Club will be through the golf course.

UPDATE: I’ve just been in to the Golf Club and they have had the carpets cleaned. We’re all very good at changing our boots after a walk, I’m sure the golf club staff will appreciate our efforts tomorrow. Many thanks 😊

  1. Thanks to everyone who joined my walk today thanks to my wing men Bryn and John. The weather was fabulous and the company was brilliant as always. The attendees were as listed no problems or concerns to report
