Route Description

A pleasant walk taking in part of the Five Weirs Walk and the Tinsley/Attercliffe Canal. It encompasses some of Sheffield’s Industrial past and present.

Meeting at The Steel Foundry (Wetherspoons) at the Meadowhall Shopping Centre S9 1EP. 10am for 10.15 am start.

The route is mostly on formed paths with some road walking where care needs to taken crossing, between one weir and the joining of the canal section of the walk. There are some over hanging bushes on the canal and the possibility of tree roots. Also included are 3 bridges with 2 with steps.
Our walk will commence at the Meadowhall Centre. We will make our through 3 of the 5 Weirs passing through Attercliffe Cemetery before joining the Canal section via Worksop Road. Our return to the start and an optional debrief at The Steel Foundry will be along the Canal path.
