Route Description

This is Stage 3 of the Penistone Line Trail. It follows footpaths bridleways and minor roads through rolling countryside. Refer to the website: penline.co.uk for a detailed description.

The walk starts from Denby Dale as we follow paths under the viaduct and gradually ascend to Upper Denby. We follow a minor road for all round views, before descending into the Gunthwaite valley and its ancient Barn. The route then goes across fields to Hoylandswaine for the highest point on the walk at 815ft. We cross two busy roads and then descend through fields to cross the River Don in Penistone and follow the trans pennine trail to the station.
