Route Description

This is a walk of 6.25 miles from the National Trust Longshaw Estate on the outskirts of Sheffield. The route follows moorland paths which offer elevated views of Sheffield and many Peak District landmarks.

The walk starts from the Longshaw car park, climbing gently to the Wooden Pole and onto White Edge Moor, passing the Hurkling Stone and close to Lady’s Cross. Look out for Red Deer in this area.
We cross the road at Barbrook Bridge, going across moorland to the Trig Point for the extensive views and probable lunch stop. As we continue over Totley Moor we pass over the line of the Totley Tunnel and proceed gently downhill for views towards Higger Tor and back through the estate. Although the highest point on this walk is 1296ft, this is a moderate walk along accessible paths on the moorland plateau. Hopefully the heather will be blooming!
