Peaceful limestone dales of Gratton Dale and Long Dale before returning across the rolling White Peak countryside, with beautiful views, rich wildlife and flower-filled grasslands along the way.
This Elton, Gratton Dale and Long Dale circular walk by Sheffield Walkers showcases some of the quieter beauty of the White Peak, combining secluded limestone dales, flower-rich grassland, woodland and rolling Derbyshire countryside. Walking from Elton, the route explores Gratton Dale and Long Dale before returning across the higher farmland around Smerrill and Gratton, with beautiful views and excellent opportunities to enjoy the area’s rich wildlife.

Meet in front of the Duke of York pub, opposite the Church in Elton. Free on street parking in the village. Please park considerately.
