Circular walk from Wentworth village

Moderate
January 15 @ 10:15 am3:00 pm
Free

Places remaining: 12

Route Description

Hope you will join Scags and Lottiewoman on a circular walk from Wentworth village, heading down in to Elsecar, through woodland and open fields up to ‘The Needle’, passing Hoober Stand, through the hamlet of Hoober and down to Nether Haugh for the Wentworth Mausoleum and through the Wentworth Woodhouse parklands.

It can be anticipated that it will be muddy under foot, but the general terrain is good with no major obstacles. There are a couple of easy stiles to negotiate and a stretch of road walking (less than 1/2 mile) which has a wide footpath and not considered to be hazardous.
There will be an optional debrief in the George & Dragon on the return to the starting point.

Other Information

Meet at 10.00am for a 10.15am start. The suggestion is to park on Church Field Lane, S62 7TX (what3words- coarser.pleaser.asks) – please consider pedestrians and other road users. There is a free car park on the lane open during daylight hours, but there are occasions when the gates are locked early afternoon.
Toilet facilities in the Elsecar heritage centre and Wentworth Woodhouse.
