It is a hidden gem home to birds\, beautiful trees and plants. \nOur meeting point will be on the concourse outside the Steel Foundry Wetherspoons at Meadowhall Shopping Centre. Where the optional debrief will take place after the walk.The route will take us along the path at the side of the River Don before joining the Tinsley Canal. On reaching the Nature Reserve we will follow the inner circular path hopefully the signs of Spring will be in full swing.Our return to the starting point and optional debrief will be via the canal and a cycle path\nThere is a little pavement walking with two pedestrian crossings. It consists of well maintained tracks throughout\, however a very short section of path at Adwick Washlands was under about 1.5” of water at the time of the recee. This section was still easily passable.\nThe walk is very flat with a total ascent of 162 ft for the whole route. There is a little pavement walking in Bolton on Dearne on minor roads.\nFrom RSPB Old Moor car park we walk to Manvers Lake where there are toilets and a cafe/shops where refreshments may be purchased. From here we pickup and follow the River Dearne. After approximately 2.5 miles we turn into RSPB Adwick Washlands where there is plentiful wildlife on the lakes either side of the path. For full descriptions of the stages please refer to the following website: penline.co.uk \nThe walk starts from the grand Victorian Facade of Huddersfield Station( train arrives by 1100hrs)\, as we follow a route through Huddersfield\, past historic buildings and over the River Colne and the Huddersfield Narrow Canal. The first 2 miles are in an urban landscape and undulating as we head towards Beaumont Park built on an escarpment. From the park we descend to follow flat paths close to the River Holme enroute to an industrial heritage site at Armitage Bridge. We then follow a woodland trail before following a scenic stretch of the River Holme to Honley.\nFrom Honley there is a gradual ascent to follow a path close to the rail line to gain moorland views to arrive at Brockholes Station. \nN.B. The easiest and probably cheapest way to Huddersfield is to get the train from Elsecar Station. The alternative is to drive to Brockholes Station but this is a 40+ mile journey\, plus you still need train ticket to Huddersfield. We will take a circular route in the woods before returning through the park for a hot or cold beverage in the golf club. We will take our time to admire the views and have a couple of drink stops in addition to lunch. I estimate that this walk will take around 8 hours. \nThis is an undulating walk. At the time of the recee the underfoot conditions were very good. There are several stiles on the walk some are quite high others have seen better days. All the stiles are manageable with a little care.\nThe walk starts from Coal Aston and we will go clockwise on the walk. The higher we climb we have increasing views towards Haddon Hall and the beautiful surrounding countryside. Then we pass through woodland to skirt Stanton in the Peak and onto the Moor\, most of the climbing is now done (honestly). We soon reach the ‘ladies’ and on to the old quarries\, where we’ll stop for our lunch. A shorter 5 mile version returning from the Brontë Falls is also available. \nA day excursion by Sheffield Walkers to Brontë Country named for the literary sisters who lived and wrote there. Centred around the village of Haworth\, it is characterized by heather-filled moors\, steep valleys\, and cobblestone villages that inspired classics like Wuthering Heights. Key attractions on this walk include the Brontë Parsonage Museum\, Top Withens\, and the Brontë Waterfall. \nThe coach will leave from opposite the library at Chapeltown at 0830 returning at 1930. \nTwo walks will be available. From Haworth\, we will walk to the Brontë Falls where we will stop for lunch. From here\, the group will split into two walks. Those opting for a shorter 5 mile walk will return to Haworth\, while the rest will continue to the ruins at Top Withens before returning to Haworth. It follows paths\, bridleways and minor roads through woodland and open countryside. There are extensive views throughout. Refer to the website; penline.co.uk for a detailed description. \nThe walk starts from the charming little station of Brockholes\, as we follow a woodland path gradually uphill\, which becomes steeper as we approach ‘Top of the Hill’. The route continues through Thurstonland for views of the dominant Emley Moor TV Mast and then a good downhill stretch to Thunder Bridge. We follow Shepley Dike fof a short distance and go through arable fields to arrive at Shepley Station.\nFlat paths through lovely countryside lead to a steady uphill to Upper Cumberworth for more fine views. There are two busy roads but both have pedestrian crossings. There are tree roots and tree branches to be aware of. The walk will commence at the Elmwood Farm Car Park and follow the path through the Washlands. On reaching the Dyke the route will cover one side of the water skirting Treeton Woods.
