The top of the path here involves some mild scrambling / big step up onto the edge. Apart from creating some hunger for the chip butty\, this will give you a nice view if the weather plays ball. The rest is down hill – along Froggartt Edge\, then through Hay Wood following our noses to the cafe at Grindleford Station. While this is not the ideal time or conditions – we may get lucky and spot the odd meteor trail. \nCONDITIONS ARE LIKELY TO BE COLD SO APPROPIATE CLOTHING\, A HAND TORCH AND A HEAD TORCH ARE ESSENTIAL \nStarting near Brough\, we walk through Hope and up to the base of Back Tor on the Great Ridge. From there we climb to Lose Hill then descend to Townhead before crossing under the railway at Normans Farm. We then climb to the Roman Road and finally to Win Hill. We will spend some time here to observe the sky for meteors before descending back to Brough. There are areas of mud in the woods and wet leaves. Care needs to be taking crossing a busy main road. There are 2 gradients but these are very gradual.Meeting point is Concord Sports Centre Car Park. S5 6AE.\nOur route takes us past Shiregreen Cemetery and the old brick yard. We will follow the path into Wincobank Woods and make an ascent to the Hill Fort let’s hope it’s a clear day for amazing views of Sheffield and beyond. Our descent to Woolley Wood will be made via Wincobank Common and some pavement walking. Our return to start and the optional debrief at Concord Golf Club will be through the golf course. \nUPDATE: I’ve just been in to the Golf Club and they have had the carpets cleaned.
