DESCRIPTION:Route Description\nChatsworth Park is always a pleasure any time of year\,  and hopefully we’ll get to see wild deer. \nStarting across parkland\, which is approx. one mile of steady uphill\, to reach a short stretch of woodland. Our path then opens out onto Calton Pastures then entering Manners Wood with intermittent views through the trees towards Bakewell.  We follow paths and tracks\, for quite a while\, then descend to Rowsley. DESCRIPTION:Route Description\nA pleasant walk taking in part of the Five Weirs Walk and the Tinsley/Attercliffe Canal. It encompasses some of Sheffield’s Industrial  past and present. \nMeeting at The Steel Foundry (Wetherspoons) at the Meadowhall Shopping Centre S9 1EP. 10am for 10.15 am start. \nThe route is mostly on formed paths with some road walking where care needs to taken crossing\, between one weir and the joining of the canal section of the walk. There are some over hanging bushes on the canal and the possibility of tree roots. Also included are 3 bridges with 2 with steps.\nOur walk will commence at the Meadowhall Centre. We will make our through 3 of the 5 Weirs passing through Attercliffe Cemetery before joining the Canal section via Worksop Road. SUMMARY:Honley to Meltham and Back
DESCRIPTION:Route Description\nThis is a walk from Honley. It offers fantastic all round views of Kirkless district throughout. I am putting this walk on again at the request of members who enjoyed it the last time and have asked me to lead it again. \nThis walk starts from the small town of Honley and consists of field tracks\, unmade roads with a little road walking in Honley itself. The walk offers view of Castle Hill and Emley Mast.There are a few squeeze stiles on this walk which certainly live upto their name in that they really are a squeeze to get through. The walk starts from Gynn Lane in Honley. We walk for a short distance through the town then pick up a path which takes us along the banks of the River Holme. We then ascend out of Honley itself to pick up off road footpaths through pleasant woodlands. After a short but steep climb we reach Honley Woods. Walking up the edge the wood we eventually turn and walkthrough fields and around the edge of Meltham Golf Course to reach our lunchstop at the side of the reservoir overlooking the golf course. After lunch there is a short climb (I want to do the top end of the walk the other way round to the previous walk\, just to vary things up a bit\, hence the short climb after lunch.) before we then return to Honley wood and start our run of squeeze stiles to reach the small hamlet of Oldfield. We follow the edge until Ladybower Bridge comes into view\, then gradually descend across Bamford Moor onto Moscar Moor. DESCRIPTION:Route Description\nA walk which offers incredible views of the Hope Valley\, firstly from the Great Ridge\, then from the opposite side of the road into Edale. \nThis route is one of Gwen’s favourites and I certainly know why!\nStarting in Edale\, we head out of the village up to Hollins Cross and along the Great Ridge to Back Tor and Lose Hill. From here\, we descend towards the Edale Road\, stopping just before it and taking a path that leads past the Losehill House Hotel. This grassy route leads us to the main road which we cross\, then walk through farmland and on to Backside Wood into Jaggers Clough. Walking from Langsett Barn\, the route climbs via Hingcliff Hill and Mickleden Edge to Margery Hill before crossing the dramatic gritstone country around Bull Stones\, Crow Stones Edge and Outer Edge\, returning through the remote upper valley of the River Porter to Langsett Reservoir.
