The route takes us through a bridle path joining Butterthwaite to Grange Lane. Care needs to be taken here as there is no pavement. On entering the grounds of Thundercliffe Grange (once the hunting lodge of Wentworth Woodhouse) we will follow the trail through Barber Wood to rejoin the TPT at Blackburn and return to Ecclesfield.. We will follow this path for 1.5 miles\, before crossing a road to a stile. From here\, we rise steeply across farmland until we reach a lane.\nWe now descend through fields to re-join the Nidderdale Way\, a wide path which passes through a pretty caravan site. The route follows moorland paths which offer elevated views of Sheffield and many Peak District landmarks. \nThe walk starts from the Longshaw car park\, climbing gently to the Wooden Pole and onto White Edge Moor\, passing the Hurkling Stone and close to Lady’s Cross. Look out for Red Deer in this area.\nWe cross the road at Barbrook Bridge\, going across moorland to the Trig Point for the extensive views and probable lunch stop. As we continue over Totley Moor we pass over the line of the Totley Tunnel and proceed gently downhill for views towards Higger Tor and back through the estate. Although the highest point on this walk is 1296ft\, this is a moderate walk along accessible paths on the moorland plateau. Hopefully the heather will be blooming! \n\n\nOther Information\nN. T. It offers fantastic all round views of Kirkless district throughout. I am putting this walk on again at the request of members who enjoyed it the last time and have asked me to lead it again. \nThis walk starts from the small town of Honley and consists of field tracks\, unmade roads with a little road walking in Honley itself. The walk offers view of Castle Hill and Emley Mast.There are a few squeeze stiles on this walk which certainly live upto their name in that they really are a squeeze to get through. The walk starts from Gynn Lane in Honley. We walk for a short distance through the town then pick up a path which takes us along the banks of the River Holme. We then ascend out of Honley itself to pick up off road footpaths through pleasant woodlands. After a short but steep climb we reach Honley Woods. Walking up the edge the wood we eventually turn and walkthrough fields and around the edge of Meltham Golf Course to reach our lunchstop at the side of the reservoir overlooking the golf course. After lunch there is a short climb (I want to do the top end of the walk the other way round to the previous walk\, just to vary things up a bit\, hence the short climb after lunch.) before we then return to Honley wood and start our run of squeeze stiles to reach the small hamlet of Oldfield.
