Ladybower, Alport Castles circular

Route Description
Noted as one of the Peak District’s most iconic walks, we leave Ladybower Reservoir to visit Alport Castles, the UK’s largest spectacular natural landslide.
This is an undulating 10 mile circular walk on well-trodden paths with an overall ascent of 500 metres. Lunch will be taken next to Alport Farm close to the ‘Four Inns Tragedy’ of 1964. From there, we traverse Crookstone Hill and return via Hagg Side. There will be several pauses en route to hear more about the area.

Parking: Derwent ‘Overlook’ S33 OAQ / £4.75 for day / Ringo App (record number then pay within 24 hrs)
Alternative: Fairholmes CP S33 OAQ / £4.75 / Card machine or/ pay at reception near toilets or at bike hire reception. NB Little to no mobile reception in valley.
Dogs permitted / no public transport / car share if possible
Fully charged torches as a safety precaution.
