Route Description

A lovely meander following porter brook through Endcliffe Park and Whiteley woods to Forge Dam

We park on Riverdale Road where we can access Endcliffe park via a pathway. We will skirt the park pausing to look at the War memorial and other points of interest on our way round. As we follow Porter brook watch out for the different species of birds and water fowl. This is one of the, waterways which brought industry to Sheffield many years ago and there are numerous information points detailing this along the way. On reaching Forge Dam we head back on the opposite bank side to our starting point. Good paths all the way around, some slightly muddy but not excessivly so and predominantly flat.

Other Information

There is plenty of free on road parking on Rivedale road. There are two gaps in the wall where it bends near the bollards, these are through ways to paths leadng into the park. We will meet at this point. There are toilets next to the cafes in the park and at the Dam. After the walk we will drive a short distance for refreshments to the Francis Newton which is a wetherspoons pub
