Cressbrook Dale Circular

Route Description
A circular Peak District Walk from Monsal Head through Cressbrook Dale.
This route by Sheffield Walkers begins at the Monsal Head hotel and passes through Hay Dale to reach the Derbyshire Dales Nature Reserve at Wardlow Hay Cop which is home to some of the earliest and longest-running nitrogen (N) deposition experiments in the world. To the rest of us, it offers magnificent views across Great Longstone. After bagging the trig, we drop into Cressbrook Dale, walking north past Peter’s Stone to Wardlow Mires. The return leg, brushes the villages of Litton and Cressbrook then along the banks of the River Wye.

Free on street parking on Butts Road, opposite the Monsal Head Hotel. This gets very busy so early arrival is advised. Paid parking and public toilets available at the Monsal Head Car Park.
Meet at the entrance to Monsal Head Car Park.
